Dr. David Tavel began his optical career in 1940, and after serving his country as a captain in the Air Force during WWII, he then opened his first office in the Claypool Hotel in downtown Indianapolis. His philosophy of providing excellence in eye care as well as offering stylish, yet affordable eye exams & eyewear at convenient locations proved to be a great success.

Today, Dr. Tavel is a family-owned business operating 24 locations across Indiana. More than 80 years later, Dr. David Tavel’s vision to help Indiana residents get affordable eye exams, maintain quality vision and find their perfect pair of eyewear still remains today throughout all Dr. Tavel offices.
